If buying one thing you don’t need would satisfy your spending appetite for months to come it’s not so bad. If you begin buying random stuff every day you will find yourself in debit with nothing to really show for it. I say this from my own experience. I’m trying to dig myself out of debt right now. I’m treating it like an addiction which I truly believe it is. Wish me luck…
It is so tempting to browse online shopping sites (to kill time & get amusement from all the stuff being offered). You kinda go into a daze, then before you know it you have clicked on a lot of items and racked up a horrendous bill.
I keep thinking I need some new clothes since a lot of the stuff I have is getting a well-worn look. But then I think…what for? Probably have to go on a shopping blitz next year sometime.
I ordered some books online from both Amazon and my Favorite Indie Bookstore’s website (I got gift cards for my birthday), but I also ordered a blanket for my bed to be cozy this coming fall/winter. I’m also ordering a scale for my bathroom to keep track of my weight. I don’t buy things online on a regular basis (I try to buy local when I can), but I understand the allure of it with everyone sheltering in place from COVID (especially when the cooler weather pushes people back inside). Hopefully, by mid-2021 or so, we should be back to normal (or close to it). In the meantime, I’m trying to eat healthy (mostly) and being active during this time. So, I might get my size 14 clothes (I’m currently size 16) out of storage and see if they fit me. If they do, I might need new clothes by then.
If you are a tsundoku with a home library or poly-craftual with a stash, then quarantine is a haven, not a burden…as long as you don’t encounter a situation reminiscent of Burgess Meredith in “Time Enough at Last”.

If they make you feel better, they’re good for you. Practical isn’t an essential in 2020. Keeping your sanity is.

My buying new boots with no place to go in them, hurts no one. Except maybe my bank account. Nice boots are pricey. That’s probably why I like them.

There was one thing that you didn’t have on that list. Need two dozen doughnuts?

Love the expression on Cathy’s face as she places the order – very positive!
