Huh. I always thought it meant “I got new shoes and don’t need these no more.”

When leaving the Army some soldiers throw their boots over a wire like that.

I always thought it was just mean bully kids that threw their victim’s shoes over the wire.

In the 82nd they used to do this, it meant someone was leaving.

In the Army it meant that you were getting out.
