A doctor and a lawyer are arguing about which one does more for society. The doctor says to the lawyer, “You have to admit that lawyers don’t exactly make angels out of men.” The lawyer responds, “You doctors do a better job than us.”
A musician dies and goes to rock & roll heaven, he meets Hendrix, Lennon, Morrison, Joplin and then he sees Bono. “Oh, man!” He says, “I didn’t know Bono was Dead? Hendrix says, “No, that’s God, he just thinks he’s Bono.”
If “to err is human” then my doctor is definitely in the human class. In the past 3-4 years he has put the wrong “mg” dosage on my prescription, submitted an X-ray lab request for my right knee when it was the left that was bothering me and after my latest annual lab work he did not have me come back to discuss the blood in my urine. I didn’t know about it until three months later when I went in for prescription renewal and subsequent testing shows the blood is still there.
I’ve seen my share of both: super egoists and down-to-earth docs. The former are totally off-putting, and the latter are a blessing. However, it’s competence that should be given maximum importance rather than “bedside manner”, IMHO.
No one, including doctors or cartoonists, is perfect….this is an affront to caring physicians everywhere, and just as bigoted as lumping any group of people.
I have laughed at jokes like this since I was in Med school in the seventies, but now with a significant number of health care professionals who have given their lives during the Covid-19 pandemic, this is in very poor taste.
I like that Mr. Deering seems to have gravitated towards working his strip on an iPad or something similarly-digital. It’s a nice look, and probably a lot more fun for him!

This is nonsense. There would be lot more than that!
Oh, wait—these are the ones who get to Heaven. Never mind.

About 90% of them are surgeons, right?

They’re not God. They just play one.

I take it that the doctor with the big badge on the right side of his smock will be going the other way?

My uncle, the doctor, claimed he instilled this belief in his patients as he believed it was beneficial to the recovery process. Whatever?!?

I had a doctor tell me, “I just keep the body going. Whether the patient lives or dies isn’t up to me.”

All the doctors that I know are fairly down to earth. None of them seem to have God complexes that I’m aware of.

Well… those that think they’re God wouldn’t be going to heaven. But yeah, they’ll be in for a real shock.

I doubt those doctors went to heaven.

I once had a bumper sticker that said THOU ART GOD. Silly me, I had the wrong diety.

Most medical doctors already know this. Scientists especially know this.
I think a lot of religious people are going to be more surprised than any doctor will be.
