dogs counter surfing is a bad practice. Getting mad at them after the fact doesn’t do any good. By then they have no idea why you are upset. All you can do is practice forgiveness and put your personal treats in a safer place (and train later when you are in a cooler frame of mind). same goes for kids
Ben is right. Forgiving is one of the hardest things to do, but it is also one of the healthiest. Holding on to bitterness affects only the holder. The target couldn’t care less. (And just to be clear, forgiving does not mean allowing it to continue.)

NEVER leave food out on the counter when you have a big dog, or a genius dog/cat. :D
