I’ve heard of a worse. How about a grown man who cuts down a pine tree out of someone’s front yard for his family Christmas tree? (He could afford to buy one).
I love how all the birds (especially seagulls) get drawn with human knees. Somehow that’s funny and cute, not like the sheepshead fish with their human teeth which are just creepy.
These four panels are so beautiful that I’ve come back to this page a dozen times since they were posted over sixteen hours ago. Just looking, in wonderment, at the colors, the shadows, the fall of light and the light of Fall.
I imagine the children chattering, the leaves ticking along at their feet, sounds subtly changed… as all sounds are… by the different humidity, air pressure, and temperature of Autumn air.
Everything about these four panels feels of October.
Growing up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, there always came a day in October when that tenthmonth feeling just… settled… into the neighborhood, usually felt first of a morning, standing at the opened glass jalousie windows in the kitchen, breathing the outdoor air, my brother and mother puttering about their breakfasts.
Any of the three of us might say it first, but year after year it was “Now. Now it feels like Fall.”
This beautiful offering today has brought that feeling full force. I have goosebumps, and not for the first time in the last sixteen hours.
