I find when I read through the daily list of birthdays that I generally know the people within the range of my age and up. Below that point the recognition drops off steeply.
Not only do I not recognize most of the names on the quiz shows, but I lost interest in pop culture so long ago that some of it now falls into the history category.
Lately, I’ve been having the same problem working crossword puzzles online, way too many references for me to people…musicians/songs/programs/actors…that I have no clue about, no pun intended.

I take the same attitude with celebrities that they did in Shakespeare’s time. They are just below prostitutes and thieves on the social scale.

I take a lot of surveys and it’s a rare day when I know who a question is asking about. "How do you feel about PersonA and PersonB as a couple? ???

True, but the recognize a lot of the celebrity names in the obituary column and can recall the movies they were in or songs they wrote and sang.

The vast majority of celebrities I do not recognize are reality celebrities, which of course means not a celebrity in the first place.
