Walt Disney came up with the character on his way home from having lost the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, his most popular character at the time. Ub was the one who came up with the design of Mickey Mouse.
Not surprised at all about the Mickey Mouse fact. The person in charge always gets the credit for the accomplishments of everyone on the team—-and the blame for everything that goes wrong.
I’m sorry, but Ripley has it wrong (and not the for the first time). I have an identical mug for protecting moustaches, with five drawings of moustachioed men on the side, purchased, as new, VERY late 20th century… The mark on its underside simply says “JAPAN”…
the “Hitler Moustache” was the most popular style in the times after WWI due to so many young men having that style so they could use the gas masks of WWI…so many served…think Charlie Chaplin, Oliver Hardy…but after it became a symbol of Nazi Germany, it quickly fell out of favor

While Mr. Iwerks mostly doodled the Mouse, Mr. Disney got to provide the voice thereto for a while.

OK, so let’s ask ZZ Top — would such a cup be at all useful?

Yes. U.S. Patent No. 1,370,316, issued to Harry Houdini on March 1, 1921. Which is so cool.

So I guess you’re going to tell us Minnie came from Mickey’s rib.
Take care, may the chord be with you, and gesundheit.

Aren’t mustache cups a thing anymore?

Contrary to rumors, Minnie Mouse never met Harvey Weinstein.
Houdini never used the suit in his performances, but likely should have in 1926.
Mustache cups were popular with the Brits, but real men in the U.S. didn’t drink tea.

Hard to believe that a guy named Ubbe Iwerks was born and raised in the U.S.
