When he gets a little older and can read some of the old comics, he’ll discover Ace, the Bat-Hound, and Bat-Mite. Not to mention Man-Bat (and who know what else has been added to the legend, as I haven’t kept up with most of the new Batman developments of the last 25 years.
And when he starts watching the 60s TV series, he’ll discover that every piece of equipment Batman used got the prefix “Bat-” in front of it.
A frend of mine sent me a comic from his college newspaper in the mid 80s called Bat Bat. In it, Bat Bat is captured by his nemesis, Pen Pal ( who resembled the Bic pen mascot). Bat Bat asks Pen Pal what his plans for him are, then proceeds to go down a list of needlessly complicated, yet theoretically deadly scenarios. To which Pen Pal replies " None of them, I’m going to shoot you!" and riddles Bat Bat full of holes. The final panel states “Next issue, Bat Bat decomposes”
