Vaso-vagal syncope, eh? Same thing happened to my mother-in-law once when we took her out to what was supposed to be dinner and a show. Scary, but essentially harmless. I’m glad there was a good outcome here too.
I’m glad it turned out well. As you said it’s hard to see one’s parent aging to a point where they may need more care than you can provide alone. Many people still think of “Nursing Homes” when Retirement Living is mentioned but they’re entirely different. If I could afford it I’d live in a retirement facility. My Mom insisted on it much to my objections but she proved me wrong. She had the most fun of her life there. Made many new friends as she had old friends join her. She also had a much busier social calendar than I ever did.
