I’ve been retired for 11 years. However, I’ve never lost the feel for the different days of the week (probably because of what’s on TV). When I was working I kept a week at a glance calendar on my desk and still do. I keep this years open to this week and last years open to the equivalent week from last year. I can tell you what I was doing last year on the same day of the week. I never miss birthdays or forget to make appointments (doctor/dentist/car service etc.) because of this easily maintained history. Simple.

Only for a pessimist.

It may seem better if you realise Monday was two days ago,Aunty!

What ruins Friday for me is the fact that I still have one more work day yet (most weeks). Fridays are my Thursdays.

Don’t you worry your sick little head over this, Aunty. Remember, there’s a box o’ good cheer in the fridge waiting for you!

When you’re retired and staying away from everything, all the days are pretty much the same

Nothing? How about when it’s Monday. But if that happens, you must have really tied one on Sunday.
