For most of his life, my Dad never mentioned the nickname he was given when a soldier in WWII. It was “Mad Dog.” I asked how he ever came to have a name like that. He was only 5’2", but had flaming red hair and evidently he got it from the aggressive way he lunged in bayonet practice.
