Sedgwick is more Captain Bligh than Captain Cook. Will Jarvis mutiny some day?

No need to pour any milk on him. He’s already soggy.

I associate Cap’n Crunch more with hacking than with cereal.

I read that the cereal mascot had the uniform of a commander.

Shouldn’t have they changed his name to “Captain Cooked” after he was taken care of by the natives?

I served on the USS Kamehameha (SSBN 642), named for the King of Hawaii who first consolidated all the Hawaiian islands under one rule… just in time for Captain Cook to show up. The submarine class was named for prominent Americans, and Hawaii had just become a state. (USS John C. Calhoun, USS Robert E. Lee; well, you can’t win ‘em all). USS Tecumsah, there’s that. 41 For Freedom (or, as we used to say, 40 For Freedom! and 1 For Training).

Cook was a truly gifted navigator and explorer. I just read an excellent book called Sea People discussing the origins and customs of Pacific Islanders.

Is there any chance that there are some Hawaiian natives on the island?

Look, Sedgie. You’re safer as Captain Crunch than as Captain Cook. These islanders may not be so different from those islanders. Take my advice: go with the Crunch!

Capt’n Crunch wears commander stripes on his sleeve. Bligh was only a lieutenant at the time of the mutiny.
