Life doesn’t “deal you a blow”. It just swings wildly in all directions, and sometimes you get in the way….

The bad things always seem to hit below the belt.

When living gets tough, just remember it beats the alternative.

Charlie, life is generally on an even keel with a few bumps along the way. There are also a few highs to make you think things are turning around, but things get back to normal soon. If you expect that the high points are signalling a time of nothing but highs, or a new mean point, then you’ll probably be disappointed. Just take life as it is. Our president said it best, “It is what it is” and in this situation, nothing is more true.

I told my students this on several occasions before I retired. “Life’s tough. Get a helmet.”
