Those things will be on sale another 10 times before you need them, if you ever need them. That’s my experience with many things.

He should get them. I’ve only used mine a few times over the years, but when there’s little room to use regular wrenches, there’s no substitute for the ratcheting kind.

They didn’t have them in the 60’s and 70’s. You may not even need them. Better safe than sorry though. Don’t waste a good hypothetical.

A friend just bought a ‘73 Corvette. He’s a buddy so I’m supportive, but it mostly seems to me that he paid a lot of money for a fiberglass car that won’t crank, and doesn’t have brakes or side mirrors. And it never had a trunk. But at least my friend has plenty of socket wrenches and an excuse to buy any other tools he wants.

Buy the box end ratchets too. The fit in spaces where a socket wrench won’t.

It’s ratchet, not ratcheting wrenches.
