Lots of companies would rather you pay with a check. Do you have any idea how much VISA charges retailers? It’s like 1.5 to 2.5% but can be as high as 3.5%.
I don’t know. I think, because of the pandemic, we’ve looked at everything more negatively, but some good things did happen. Space X and NASA sent astronauts to the ISS and back. I found out that my husband and I can cut one another’s hair with fairly good results, and never before have I been so thankful for the technology we have to communicate with each other, plus the ability to order just about everything one might need. I’m sure most people can find many other good things if they dig deeply enough.
2019 was bad for me too. Found out I had cervical cancer. Left my job, went through 100s of blood tests, and finally had the surgery to remove it. Luckily it had not spread. The worst part of 2019 was being unemployed from June through the end of the year and into 2020. Finally went back to work during the pandemic. Been working since April.

I live in Mexico, in Mexico City to be precise. Here almost no one has or uses checks: it’s either cash or credit/debit cards.
