I’ll pay for my comics but I refuse to pay for TV shows (other than for cable, and I’m seriously considering cutting the TV cord).

I’ve been watching the Peanuts Specials since i was a kid. Was looking for The Great Pumpkin could only find it on demand. Paying for something that’s been coming on for free for years. That just SUCKS.

Greed at work once again. Peanuts and the gang have been free forever. I bet Charles Schultz is spinning in his grave.

You can stream it for free for a few days starting tomorrow (the 30th).

But it does suck. Many families don’t have access to high speed streaming services. Not everybody has a smart TV and wifi internet. For those families, they won’t be able to watch any Peanuts specials any more. AppleTV also has the Thanksgiving special and Charlie Brown Christmas.

And we have Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas on VHS and have watched whenever we’ve wanted to for years.

I’m glad we DVR’d it a few years ago! I still remember watching it as a child, drooling over the commercials for Dolly Madison snack cakes!

Not really Cathy. I have read that Apple will be streaming it for free on Oct 30 and Oct 31. (However they don’t say that today on their site.)

I cut the cable years ago. I have a smart tv and hi-speed internet and watch shows for free and without ads on apps that I pay for (cheaply). But one thing I noticed this year is that shows I watched for free previously are now being offered for a price—WHAT? They are not new shows, they are re-showings. What is going on?

Unfortunately, I heard they’re not playing it this year.

The funniest thing? The “Cathy” animated specials were also done by Bill Melendez studios who did all the Peanuts specials. Hubby and I collect animation art and we had the privilege to go to the studio celebration of the 50th anniversary of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” in 2015. Cathy Guisewite was there and she was delightful. I really laughed when I saw this today. Schulz, Melendez and Mendelson are protesting up in Heaven. ❤️

Such a slap in the face to devoted fans. No respect for tradition.

Apple is one bad apple! Are they going to do the same with A Charlie Brown Christmas as well?

Yup—classics like Charlie Brown should always be free to all!

Or you can get “Great Pumpkin” on DVD. I believe that it’s on their “Peanuts Specials of the 60’s” DVD. But I agree with you that it bites that a special that aired for free for years is now being streamed on a subscriber channel. As far as I know, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” will still be shown on ABC in December, but if it’s streamed on Apple TV instead, I’m getting the DVD instead.

Just trying to be helpful, “Great Pumpkin” is still shown on public TV for free, you know, PBS.
