Took me a bit to figure out what I was seeing. So the first panel is the view of the Pharos from outside, covered almost to the top with toothbrushes. Perhaps the molten look is because the heat from the light melts any who remain too close to the light? But that doesn’t really explain the second panel, where it appears that tbs have discovered a way in.
I’m inclined to think that while the ditto defense is failing, it is still working close to Wally. But the collapsing gates have made things too difficult to hold back everything’
Masterful artwork and the suspense has ratcheted up another notch! The tower is collapsing, the seawater is rushing in, and our stalwart heroes are running for their lives.
Looking forward to seeing what happens next and where Aaron is taking this story arc. It’s a wild ride, for sure! :)
Look back over the last few days, I get: The Wally group is still in the tower. The sketches representing the linked universes started glowing and give the effect that walls, floors, ceiling are transparent. But they are still solid unless you touch an “active” spot in the design…then you can fall in. When Amesworth became toothbrushes, and they hit the design, some kind of equilibrium was upset in a very bad, flaming pit kinda way (this could be what the “native” toothbrush mass was striving for, and why they mobbed the tower). The disturbed grid (orange) seems to be spreading to infect the entire grid. Meanwhile Wally and group are running down the hall, away from the expanding event. The mass of “native” brushes are pouring in thru the windows. What happens when they hit the grid? Will it also begin flaring? And what happens to those topside techs on the other side of the gate that they’d just opened? Will they connect to the tablet and pull our group out? I’ve no idea, and I could be way off on my guesses, too. But what a ride, eh?
Some part of me is hanging on to the hope that Wally will see some of his earlier compassion returned, or that maybe the toothbrush swarm isn’t the ravenous monster it appears to be. One thing this strip has a history of, though, is veer away from well-worn paths, so I am at the mercy of each new blind curve.
…the grayness of the water like energy pouring through the square opening in the walls could be our heros’ dimension coming through. They have Amesworth’s portal device and the topsiders shenanigans almost have to come into play…

Run, you fools! RUN!
Looks like in his panic, Wally let his ditto defenses slip.

The dittos are also charged by emotional energy right? This may be supercharging them for later.

They have to run into a gate eventually.

I s’pose what happens depends on whether that’s water or toothbrushes flowing in.

Panel 2 looks like a side view of a screaming mouth, complete with teeth?

Definitely, something weird is going on. Are they being sucked in by the gate?

Nice having the red in there, sorta like lava and the inside of a volcano.

And then they landed in a universe with events playing out exactly the same as in Endtown comic page #1.

So the multiverse that has already not seemed to be in really great shape is coming even more apart? Oy vey!
