All this buzz about DeChambeau hitting the ball so far is just going to make the tourney officials do more “Tiger proofing” on the PGA courses (though now it will not be called Tiger proofing, perhaps “DeChambeauing” the course????). For Augusta they can not do much to change the length of the holes but they can make the course seriously harder through pin location, making the greens faster and letting the rough get a bit higher to make the course exceedingly difficult but rewarding precision and accuracy over power . I have always liked courses/tournaments where a par course is considered an excellent score like Shinnecock, Winged Foot or Oakmont for the US Open has proven over the years where often, the winning score is actually over par.
First there was Gary Player (the godfather of golf fitness), then Tiger Woods, now guys like DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka. Not much room left for guys like Craig Stadler and John Daly.

This comment was first made about Jack Nicholson – “He only uses a driver and a wedge!”
