My room mate in my freshman year of university was gay and I never knew til the end of the scholastic year. He never mentioned it and was never flamboyant either. He was a nice guy. It never bothered me when I found out.
My ex-wife played women’s soccer for a number of years. Perhaps coincidentally the majority (significantly so) of players on the team were lesbian. The result being that I was often the only man on the sidelines supporting the team. As a minority I never really felt like a “token” until then. :-)
