Good relationships seldom start with “fireworks”. That’s Hollywood theatrics. When I was a feature writer I interviewed couples married for 50 years or more. Most began as friends and some had rocky starts, but all relationships grew and deepened over time.
Great quote; “Look Mike, there’s no fireworks. Being out with Tracey is like being out with you!!” Man what a loser. It is a wonder why he even has any friends like Mike. If I were Mike I would have socked him one in the nose!
Was is Seinfeild that said “Men and women can’t just be friends.”, or was that “When Harry met Sally”? I think they could “just be friends” if it wasn’t for other “friends” pushing them into bed.
SPOILERS (don’t know how to create space so. . . . . ) SPOILERS BE BEYOND Weird. I thought this was the one where they immediately realized there were indeed sparks. Guess that happens later!
The female of the species has a very specific definition of a date. At 67 I never figured out what it was. One would think if I invited and I paid it was a date. Nope. Appears to be much more complicated than that. But then, I don’t worry about it anymore.
A good strip for tomorrow is where Michael tells Lawrence about the date and how cool he played it, whereas Lawrence says he was stuck inside all day preparing for their math test, and how it will be 25% of their final grade. Michael then says “MATH TEST?!” and is not so “cool” upon realizing he forgot!
The fireworks doesn’t happen right away. That comes later (or never), but you can still enjoy being out with someone that you are friends with. That’s how my husband and I began, being casual friends. Feelings for each other came later. :)

Allyson and Michael are on the same wavelength when talking about their friends’ so-called “date”

Poor kids. Suppressed much?

Why is Tracey surprised it’s a date? She basically manipulated Gordon into going out with her!

They haven’t said good night yet. They will probably go out again. So what or where will they go next, lunch/dinner someplace?

Then, Tracey is the perfect practice. She too is not feeling sparks and is just happy with spending her time with a friend.

Both think a like, means both will call it quits and remain friends.

I wonder how many people still know what a dial tone is.

Gordon insults Tracey and Mike in the same sentence. Tracey is too good for him.

Dial tone? :-)

More realistic reaction:
Michael: So, Gord – How’s the date with Tracey?
Gordon: You have been with me and Tracey every minute of this date. Do you think you missed something?
