Dividing a task into smaller manageable sections and working up from smaller parts to bigger goes back at least as far as René Descartes.
The hardest part about cleaning is just getting started. Pick an item, determine where it needs to be or how it needs to be rearranged, and do it. Repeat until the desired level of cleanliness is achieved.
The REAL never ending story. And don’t get me started on laundry.
