I think the fear leading to anger for Anakin was based perhaps on pride and envy. Despite the love his mother, Padma and Obi-Wan – among many others had for him – it wasn’t enough apparently. Very sad and I always thought by the third prequel, a classical Greek tragedy.

I thought reading a few comics every day was escaping the real world…

The problem being that Darth Vader and Orange God may be tragic figures, but they can do real damage in their lashing out. They cannot be allowed to continue.

I have had similar thoughts about Trump. I do feel sorry for him, because so much of what he is has to do with his upbringing. But it ends there.

Anakin would have been a far more tragic figure if we hadn’t seen that his fall to the dark side was mostly because he was too stupid to realize that Palpatine was lying to him.

I far preferred Ben Kenobi’s original story that Anakin was seduced by the dark side. He wasn’t seduced, we never saw him making a conscious choice to be evil because of the power it offered. Palpatine simply tricked him into it.
