It’s been pointed out before, but I’ll reiterate: how is it fair to stick Liz with the baby? You don’t want the baby in your room because you don’t want the mess and noise? What makes you think your daughter deserves to be the one to deal with it?

Guess she still gets up during the night. Both my boys slept through the night starting at around 6 weeks old. Old wives’ remedy – put teeny, very teeny, amount of watery oatmeal in their milk before bed. That kept them full and asleep. Yeah, both were bottle-fed. Older son rejected the source that Mother Nature provided – wouldn’t accept. Younger grew so fast and was always hungry that the natural source was not enough so I switched to formula when he was 6 weeks old. My mother came from a large farming family so she gave me that tip and showed me how to do it. We were aware that the pediatricians frown on that kind of practice but it does work. Both grew up healthy without any gastroenterological issues which is the main argument the pediatricians use against this practice.

My pediatrician told my Mom to mix a small amount of bourbon with the formula.

I remember my sister doing this and waking me up. I was told to shut up and put up with it. My grades started to slip because I was tired in class and couldn’t concentrate. Of course I got hollered at for that too.

One of my daughters used to do this. One day she managed to bump the crib right across the closed door of her bedroom. Talk about panic stations and a very scary few moments!

My older brother shared a room w/my younger brother & younger sister when the 4 of us were kids. How did I get off so easy? I had the smallest room before the 2 younger ones were born. Then my great grandmother came to live w/us .(a spare room was made out of the garage) When she passed away a year after my sister was born , the 2 younger ones shared a room .

Who wanted April in Lizzy’s room? Who’s going to discipline Lizzy when she does poorly in school?Who will scold Lizzy when she’s cranky due to lack of sleep?
