I can’t relate, Paige, because I am a little brother (no recollection of pestering my older brother during his exam finals nor myself having done mine so very, very early).

I wonder why the school doesn’t let Jason (and his equally academically motivated friends) skip a grade or two at this point

I haven’t had to deal with final exams for the longest time, and I’m still in high school.

I don’t remember having a final exam week in high school or junior high school. In college, different professors had different policies:

    • Comprehensive, where we were tested on everything we should have learned durring the term.

    • Midterm exam and final exam: The midterm tested us on everything we should have learned in the period from the beginning of the term to half-way, and the final tested us on what we should have learned since the midterm.

    • Regular exam: The final exam tested us on material we should have learned since the previous exam.

Exams were the most important tests, and had the greatest weight in calculating our grades for the course. Less important were tests we might have had between exams, and quizzes we might have had between tests.

My H S had a policy if you maintained an A average for the semester you didn’t have to take finals. The only final I ever took was any math course.
