I’m an atheist and I say “Merry Christmas”, “Happy Holidays”, or whatever greeting strikes me at the moment. I’ve never understood why anybody gets bent out of shape over what greetings other people use, especially when they are sincere when they say it.
The other nice thing about “happy holidays” is that it is a wish for joy on the named days of the year, whether they hold personal significance or not. I don’t do anything for Kwanza (I don’t even know when it occurs), but I certainly hope to be happy then.
So to all reading this, happy holidays, happy weekends, happy humpdays, and happy TGIFs.
