Wow, ‘investiture’ and ‘histrionic’ – tied for most with four syllables. I think in the old-timey, classic-type comics, they only reach four syllables when using ‘haberdasher.’
Off-topic but “plaque” reminds me of a woman I knew. She had petitioned the City Council to make her newly purchased, vintage home an official, historical house. They didn’t go for it. She showed me the written request she had distributed at the council meeting. Every instance of “plaque” had been misspelled as “plague”. She had literally wished a “plague on all their houses.” True story.
