These two strips are emblematic of what I loved so much about Rip Haywire comic strips of days gone by. The ridiculous non-sequiturs, the blindingly obvious but at the same time silly observations of bystanders, the nonsensical comments of the shell shocked survivors and finally an observation by a sensible bystander while another bystander tries to join in on the idiotic conversation of the survivors.
By the way, has anyone seen the recent Mel Gibson film, “Fatman?”
Imagine a blue-eyed Rip as Santa, who is going bankrupt because there are too few “good” kids these days to keep his operation afloat. The U.S. government offers to bail him out if he and his elves will build parts for fighter jets. At the same time, an insanely rich spoiled kid ends up with a well deserved lump of coal from Santa, and hires a hit man to take out Santa.
The flick really isn’t a comedy, or an action movie, but comes across very well as a live action Rip Haywire strip. For example, the sociopath hit-man utterly adores his pet hamster and does the best he can to keep it happy, while shooting dead most everyone he interacts with.
Ah, classic Rip Haywire. One thing I really like about the Rip haywire comic strip is that it’s not preachy or trying to be relevant or woke. (Whatever that means.) It’s just fun for the sake of being fun. We really need more comics like that.
The half elf I know kills “Santa Spiders” aliens who love Santa and Santa hate spiders even space alien ones who adore and love him. Originally from Alpha Lyra, they are the basis for giant black spiders seen around the globe for centuries. They are cool intelligences who do love Santa. They eat meat just not intelligent beings and their physiology is closer to mammals than arachnids. They are behind many of the animal mutilations we find when their shipped food sometimes run out.
I do like the Tolkien reference here and since Tolkien didn’t like the recent idea of elves as little people I agree they are really the best humans could ever be and the Orcs the worst humans could ever be. I see it in the same way only it is the Light Elves (Svartálfar) are good an the Dark Elves (Dökkálfar) who are the evil.

I have sampled Harley a number of times without being convinced to add it to my feed, but I’m glad I didn’t miss this one!
