In my family it is tradition to leave the tree up until “Little Christmas”. Just in case something Magi© happened and there were more gifts.

From the tree’s perspective; its 2020 fate is far worse than Janis’s….

I’m with Robin and Morrison. Putting up a tree represents an effort not taken lightly by any Christmas nut as us. Such efforts lead to excuses for keeping it up through the first week of January at least. Besides shewhomustbeobeyed would never toss her ornaments about as Janis is wont to do.

My mother always insisted the tree be down before the new year, but I think that was just to get it over with.

That’s just wrong to not give the tree a few more days. Christmas feelings are still alive and well here and should really last for 365 days. Though, I know they won’t….

Growing up and living in a rural southern area, it was nothing to see Christmas lights on into January, even February. My parents used to say it looked like “juke joints!” Now we have some that keep the lights up in the tall trees, and difficult areas, but they do not turn them back on till December.

The Christmas season is just beginning. There are twelve days of Christmas. I do understand the need to put this year behind us, though.

February 13th for us. We take them down piecemeal, but that’s the date by which she wants everything down.

Leave the Christmas Tree up at least to Epiphany on January 6th! I leave my decorations up until the Presentation on Feb. 2nd. That’s when the Traditional Christmas Season ends.

I’m not done putting up Christmas decorations yet 12/28.

Last year did not get chance to put our decorations & ended up with only 1 of our smaller trees & 25 of the most favorite/cherished decorations. Husband promised me then, that “next year” it all would be put up. (I generally put everything inside up.)

Started decorating this year with time to get everything up inside. Did not figure that I would not be able to find the hooks I use (not available locally). Should be a bag with a LOT of them in box 1 and extras in box 3 or 4. I had enough for most of the ornaments – over 90% but wanted all on this year – needed it after last year’s lack and how this year has been.

There should have been more hooks in the boxes for our teddy bear Christmas village – none in those boxes either – and I was bereft thinking of not getting that tree up. I kept turning it all over in my head – where would I have put the hooks for the main tree 2 years ago and where would I have put the ones for the teddy tree last year? It finally hit me – as to the latter – I have two plastic boxes kept under part of the village to hold general items – park benches, chairs, tables… Sure enough I had left the bag of hooks – my guess is from the main tree as there are so many – in one of the baskets. So that tree went up completely – though village not set up yet – earliest I have gotten this set up is Christmas Eve and due to 2 large storms coming through our area, I had to take down part of the village as it sits on a the landing at the top of the stairs so we did not trip on it if we lost electricity. It should be finished being setup by New Years. The village will be changed to Valentine’s Day late in Feb.

The other trees and decorations will be left up until some time in January. Longest we have left it up is April – but that year was when we still stored it all in the garage and the garage door had frozen to the ground so had to leave it up – tax clients thought it unusual.
