That’s the reason I don’t engage in winter play (well, that and I purely HATE getting cold): I’m an okay driver in snow. Not an expert, but I’ve been there and pulled enough stupid moves to have a pretty good idea. But those OTHER drivers are downright dangerous!
Are people even allowed to go to parties? Keep the drunks and drug users off the streets if you really want to keep people safe. Oh, sorry forgot about defunding the police. I’m sure our citizens will obey the law and do the right thing.
I plan to pass on partying this year. It’s usually my annual drunken stupor (at home). Each of the last four years has been the ‘worst’; each I blasted out and celebrated the arrival of the new year; and each new year was worse than the previous one. I’ve already ensured that I won’t be drinking NY eve; I signed up to donate blood that day.
One of the hotels here had a nice New Years Eve package. Included dinner, the party with music, the hotel room to stay, a breakfast buffet the next morning & the pool area was open all night.

I used to have to work the overnight shift on New Year’s Eve and I can tell you: some people start their drinking early.

We always made it a point to stay home on the holidays that entice drinking and driving.

Around here, a bike ride would be a great way to see a lot of (albeit illegal) fireworks.

We used to have a club outdoor bike ride New Years Day, but as gotten older and wise do an indoor Zwift ride instead

Wait ‘til you’re old, kid. You’ll record the ball dropping, if you can remember how, and never care enough to bother watching it.

As a sage friend once warned me, “Watch out for the amateur drunks.”

I know some alcoholics who would stay home on New Year’s Eve. They called it Amateur Night.

I love Jef’s Cats and Squirrels —to name a couple.
