Most people in our neighborhood didn’t bother to walk their dogs in the morning. Most dogs made their way through our backyard to play with our basset hound. It was like a mini Westminster Dog Show. Occasionally, some dog would show up wearing some type of a hideous coat. We all laughed so hard and tried to guess who’s great aunt made it on a Ronco weave o matic. All that before the bus picked us up. Good times.
I always shared that same disdain for dog sweaters until 2 years ago when it hit -7 degrees outside. So now, when the temp dips below 25, my Lab gets bundled up in a green-plaid flannel dog “jacket.” He doesn’t mind at all.
My mother knitted a sweater for my dog, Louie DeLabb, and he loved it because it was a gift of love from his Grandmother. I never had children and considered Louie to be my son and my mother respected that.
There are no ugly or out-of-date clothes or hairstyles, there’s only judgmental people. That’s why, if everyone had a life, there would be no such thing as fashion police.
