She could teach him how to cook a few simple recipes—nothing fancy, just simple, hearty foods. I had a roommate once—showed him how to make pot roast (dead easy) and put together a simple cream sauce (butter, flour, milk) to add to sauted hamburger or tuna or whatever. He loved it, started cooking and ended up trying other recipes on his own.
Hey, Adam will probably bring his A game and order an Uber Eats delivery and light a candle. Just because my hands didn’t make the Chicken Parmesan it doesn’t mean I don’t care.
Neither of my husbands knew much about cooking as they had mother’s who never allowed them near the kitchen. Worked out fine for me (with exception to the first) because I loved to cook and bake. My second was generous with helping chop things and cleaning up after the meals. We also ate out often so I didn’t have to cook all the time. My son has taken after him and is now a full time partner in the kitchen with his lady friend. They both love to cook. Nice to see how things turn out with your kids. I would never have guessed when he was young that he would turn out like he has.
It sounds like Adam is one of these people who can burn water. Make sure the smoke detector has fresh batteries and offer to make “side dishes” people can eat when his dinner is inedible.
My easiest go to recipe for when I don’t want to cook? Any can of prepared soup, bring to boil, add 1/2 cup of rice and let simmer for the 20 minutes required to cook the rice. You end up with sort of a rice casserole thing.
