Good thing she is not in school today she would never survive the virtual classroom (although her lunch would not be fodder for criticism)

And this was in 1974? They’d probably confiscate doughnuts at the door now (and take them to the teachers lounge).

Maybe the donuts are the reason she is having trouble.

Learned nothing in school? An obvious preference for doughnuts? Maybe a career as a policewoman awaits you…

Why is the black haired boy calling Peppermint Patty, Sir? Even though Patty looks like the smart alec red haired boy on the Partridge Family, I presumed Patty is a girl.

Uh, teach? You might want to re-think that lunch critique – the sugar might help keep her awake until the end of the day…

This cartoon must have came out before the Peanuts characters appeared on many of the Dolly Madison snacks which included Zingers, Gems, assorted fruit pies and of course donuts.

That’s nothing. If a teacher complains about you being too full to finish eating, they’ll give you detention.

I have to say … I’m with Patty at least a bit here. It annoys me greatly when teachers stray from teaching into some sort of person health guidance/moral authority. A confidant and someone to talk to about issues – yes. Criticize their lunch? NO.

The thing is Patty isn’t stupid. She simply has atypical learning needs and her teachers aren’t doing anything to encourage or help her.

I saw a story on reddit where a dad said the school confiscated the two Oreo cookies he put in his kid’s lunch and sent home a note saying it wasn’t allowed. Dad sent back a note saying they had no right to tell him what to put in his son’s lunch, (he checked the school rules and there was nothing about the contents of lunchboxes) and threatening they would be dealing with his lawyer if they kept confiscating his kid’s food. He won.
