If you are ever in Winston-Salem, NC, you can see the inspiration for the Empire State Building (on a smaller scale). It was called the Reynolds Building, on E. 4th Street – it is now called The Residences @ the R.J. Reynolds Building / Kimpton Cardinal Hotel / Katharine Brasserie & Bar. It has sections open to the public to see, as well as the restaurant. The Empire State Building used to send it a Father’s Day card every year (don’t know if they still do that anymore).
