I remember having to make a bologna sandwich with crackers because we were out of bread and I had no money for the school lunch.

Improvisation is the hallmark of great cooks everywhere.

This makes me sad.

Oatmeal with lime Jell-O and crackers, sounds like a buffet style party dish I tried once. My guess is the one who brought the lime Jell-O salad made the dish under protest.

Sound like the usual Agnesland Cousine to me!

Got to give grandma credit for creativity, we know where Agnes gets hers

Oatmeal, lime jello and crackers might not sound like much but its more than some kids get for dinner

I would have just served them seperately, but I’m not creative

At least Grandma and Agnes have good imaginations.

Hope she cooked the oatmeal at least.

This makes me reminisce about my childhood. Except for the lime Jello. Didn’t have that, either.

I grew up poor, but didn’t realize it at the time… and we never went hungry – even without welfare, food stamps,etc. Plain fare and sometimes obtained with a rifle.
