You have to have photosynthesis if you want grilled cheese.

I feel the same about portulaca. Fun word but unfortunately it is in possession of fleshy leaves.

The simple joy of the sound of a word, rolling off the tongue like music. Dissecting its meaning and its syllables. Listening to the echo in the distance of the sound it makes. Such is the wonder of childhood. The innocence, the freedom, the discovery. (RLTW)

Wallace knows how to keep his friends from killing each other, without looking too obvious at it.

Best grilled cheese I ever had was at a little farm in Vermont. Gruyere with homemade blueberry preserves. And yeah, it was over two years ago..

Wallace is amazing! And Spud needs to renew his repertoire of stories.

I love how Amelia tries to walk more slowly and lag behind, but she always ends up where they are…

One of the clumsiest words I know of is “Comptroller”. Does NOT roll off the tongue.

I see the seagull is missing. Apparently, it didn’t want to hear the grilled cheese story again, either.

When I’m feeling down, I always think of Mary Poppins and start singing … Supercali … um … Souporcale … er … Soopacalley … oh, you know what I mean.

I had a very nice grilled cheese a few days ago. Used Havarti Jalapeño – thick sliced, by Boar’s Head. Anyone want to hear the details?

It’s fun to teach vocab that kids have never seen or noticed. I tell them they can make people think they’re insulting them if they call them oxymorons. They love that. And there are lots of different words that mean, at heart, lying. Engaging in hyperbole is a favorite with them. I love word play of all kinds—especially bad puns!

When students would ask why they needed to know something I was teaching in class I would tell them, “I know much of this information is a bit esoteric but think of it as for your own edification.” That usually shut the class up. I was teaching chemistry at the time.

Today, it was something like 20 degrees with sun, and I heard several birds singing. The little bird in panel one must have had the same idea!
