I’m not saying he’s a bad cook, but have you ever smelled burned water?

Roger is the only person in the world who could burn a PB&J sandwich.

Roger is breaking the deal many suburban husbands made in the last 1/2 of the 20th century. Work at job you hate for 40 years. Retire. Die in a couple years after retiring and then your widow lives well a couple more decades without you using the retirement/pension money that was supposed to be for both of you. And if you were responsible she can travel using the insurance money payout.

I’ve had a few moments in my life where I’ve felt like Roger. Near misses with different family members when I was on the other side of the world, having personal tragedies occur when I was stuck in a random hotel in some backwards manufacturing town in some armpit of the world. It’s tough. There are definitely things that I missed in the life of my family – but on whole I hope I chose the right balance for them.
