The wheel turns~today China is pushing to have more babies. In certain areas of China the demographic split is (roughly) a 55%/45% split male to female….many men unable to find a spouse…
It appears that all those “starving kids in China” that my Mom told me would love to have my broccoli, were sort of packed in there. I wonder if kids in China now are hearing about the “starving kids in America” who would love to have their Broccoli?
We visited China when our daughter was about ten, and toured the orphanage she came from.
Following on some of Nyckname’s comments above, there was some awful stuff going on (let alone since then), though I think we were lucky that it was just sort of shabby, but not outright evil, and they cared for their babies. We knew what to expect because we’d sent over a disposable camera while she was still in it, and they sent us the pictures.
I’m reminded of a time when the Ship I was attached to shared a US Navy Barracks with a bunch of sailors from the South Korean Navy.
We never did manage to convince the Koreans that there was a Separate Bunk for each man. They seemed to think that Two Senior Enlisted in a bunk and Three Junior Enlisted was how things were supposed to work.
It got pretty funny the day a US Navy Bosun’s Mate tried to tell one of the Korean Sailors that they were “Work Buddies” and the Korean sailor thought that meant they were supposed to Sleep in the same bunk.

“In China, you kill the girls.” I think that’s shorthand for “Mr. DeVille is no model of enlightenment himself” OSLT.

That was really a non sequitur comment, Mr. Inspector.

Are those hearts in Panel 1 on Duke’s boxers? Or is Honey still deluded enough to believe she’s still in love with him?

Duke has left it to Honey to run the place while he does nothing. She has good motivation to get it shut down.
