Something that this strip really highlights is that it really is a choice to genuinely rejoice in someone else’s happiness. In my own experience there is an interesting effect – that if the other person is sincerely happy then you being happy for them and with them just makes it better. If they are just boasting, you being genuinely happy for them makes them realize their insincerity and they don’t get any satisfaction.
