Just make sure to step off at the end. And make sure any shoe laces are tied. And do not hold onto the handrail too tightly when it goes faster or slower than the stairs. And if it stops half way, do not wait and call for help, just walk up it like regular stairs.

I have to ask, is there a blancmange at the bottom of this?

I took a hundred escalators today – and it’s still not enough for my Fitbit…

Escalators seem to work better for Horace than elevators, for now…

Yes. So these blancmanges, blancmange-shaped creatures come from the planet Skyron in the Galaxy of Andromeda. They order 48,000,000 kilts from a Scottish menswear shop … turn the population of England into Scotsmen (well known as the worst tennis-playing nation on Earth) thus leaving England empty during Wimbledon fortnight! Empty during Wimbledon fortnight … what’s more the papers are full of reports of blancmanges appearing on tennis courts up and down the country – practising. This can only mean one thing!

Where’s the escalator clause? That Podgorny book gets an ‘incomplete’.

Wheaton is a Washington Metro station in Montgomery County, Maryland on the Red Line. The station contains 230-foot-long (70 m) escalators, which are the longest set of single-span escalators in the Western Hemisphere.

I wonder what’s printed on the other pages of that manual, because there’s clearly more pages than what the shown instructions would fill.

If you are in Europe, stand in the middle of the step—they love that.

My mom told me about her first escalator ride when she was in her mid 40s. It was the first one in town and she and her friend went there just for the ride. They watched for a while before stepping on and said it was a real thrill. I know I rode it a week or so later but have no memory of it at all. And, no, I don’t live in Mayberry.
