You did my dear, you did, at least till it became more one sided. I don’t think he left you permanently anyway. Or to put it another way a wise person from an abridge series once said “You done goofed”
I’m curious if Sadine was giving her football tickets . . . and anniversary? Oh my.
You spoke the truth, Sedine. She just didn’t want to hear it because she thought she was right. Like, I get it: Ellie wants to be great parent and the right model. What parent doesn’t? But she was focused on her-her-her, she treated Hubbs like a trophy husband (and yes, I do know Ellie sees him as her one true love and I feel bad for her for that) and was completely dismissive to his needs. A relationship is a two-way street but she was only focused on her lane. A more common mistake I see in a LOT of relationships…
While it may not be terribly funny, I’m seeing a scenario here where Hubbs leaves the box he works at and vanishes completely. Soon, however, Ellie and Al start getting mysterious checks and money orders from various locations – which happen to have pro football teams that Hubbs has been secretly trying out for. Then one day, Hubbs returns with a contract to be signed, playing quarterback; his dream, but telling Ellie that without her and Al, the dream is meaningless. (Possibly with Whitney Houston’s “Run to You” playing in the background… although actually, I borrowed some of it from the last remake of “The Jazz Singer.”)
As a helicopter mother, how would her attitude change once she sees Al pickup a toy and throw it twenty yards to nail the mean dog that’s been hounding Ow.
Lots of ways the story can go and only the artist has GPS.
Of course Sedine is the one to call her out. I just hope Ellie comes to realize the way she treated Hubbs and work harder to listen and not brush off his feelings so easily.

Sedine speaks for the audience in this case I think.

Tell her like it is! Also tell the winch she is now a successful drunk, and in front of her kid. What a mess this woman is?

Never marry a man with the idea that you could change him. It just won’t work.

… and this kinda/sorta ‘would’ be their Anniversary, too, if it weren’t for that health hiccup. ✨❤️✨

Sedine is being the “voice of reason,” and I’m not sure it’s a good look for her.

Sedine dropping the TRUTH BOMBS (and looking fine in her mini-skirt and heels!)

And let’s face it… Sedine is quite the babe.

The truth, Sedine. And it hurts, as the old saying goes.

I just hope this experience doesn’t turn Ellie into an alcoholic but judging by today’s strip, she appears to be headed in that direction.

You know Sedine was going to get it said, straight…no chaser…no filter. I hope Ellie can really think about it once she calms down from the fury.

And so it begins… It’s quite a metamorphosis, actually. Ellie is turning into the new “Old Sam”.

Writing while watching the Superbowl….
As BeaR wrote in the New Year, the original finish to this arc was probably scheduled to occur the day before the Superbowl.
One more month of conflict, mayhem, and misplacement.
