You said “cut grass”, not “mow grass”…

Personally, I cant see a kid wanting to do that. Even and enterprising one would want to be quick to move on to the next.

Well, then – buck up and give him some proper tools!

A neighborhood mom more or less pleaded with me to let her son mow my lawn for a fee, so I agreed reluctantly, but I didn’t want him using my mower because I didn’t trust him. She agreed he’d use their mower. He showed up on the appointed day and tried to mow but his mower was out of gas. He also didn’t have a gas can or any money. He wanted me to load his mower into my car and drive him to the gas station and pay to fill up his mower. I told him to go home. I never saw either of them again.

I stayed in a hotel on Cozumel, where all the gardening was done by hand. A guy actually used scissors to edge the side walks. Mowers were those old rotary blade mowers. There was nothing powered. It made a huge difference as far as relaxing.

Paid grand daughter to pull some tough weeds, we negotiated 5 cents per weed, but before payment, I had to check to make sure roots were attached to all the weeds.

The kid goes on to having a successful career on Wall Street.

Such a sloppy job. He needs to use a comb with the scissors to make sure all the blades of grass are even.

I was tasked doing exactly this in front of the company headquarters while in Army basic training. I was receiving $78 a month.
