“But it might not be so bad if everybody wears masks, distances, and washes their hands.”
“What? That’s too much work! I don’t want to do that! It’s uncomfortable and inconvenient! I want things to go back to normal without any effort or sacrifice on my part.”
Actually, Cathy, you’ll find there is plenty of reason to be hopeful. Vaccines are ramping up in most of the country, and the case rates have dropped significantly in all 50 states (and DC). Yes, we have the variants from the UK, South Africa and Brazil but experts are saying that the sooner we get ourselves inoculated against Covid, the sooner we can build up a resistance to these variants and that the best way to fight variants is to stop the virus from replicating inside the body. The problem with the media is that they are wedded to bad news because that attracts attention. “New Covid mutations found!” is guaranteed to generate far more clicks than “New Covid rates dropping sharply in all 50 states!” But we will get through this, this too shall pass.

Hopefully not, but given what we’ve seen so far from COVID …
Stay safe, all.
