They were tigers when I was a kid, but they are cats now. I want to know who decided that.

Don’t care about the argument, just looking at the cat having fun with the ball of yarn!

Not to be petty, but who says a Tiger wouldn’t enjoy a giant ball of yarn? However, I own dogs, so I don’t have any meat on that barbeque. Nice kitty.

Have you seen what happens when you put an empty refrigerator box in with a lion or tiger? Cats are gonna cat, no matter their size.

I agree with the research that decided they weren’t “tigers” based on evidence they were significantly different from tigers and more of their own thing, belonging to the overall category of cats. I’m old enough to see many things renamed because of this kind of research. I’m fine with it, as I’d rather keep learning about how nature works rather than adhere to traditions.

Wish the artist would look at some real knitters. We don’t hold our needles upside-down the way they’re portrayed in this strip!

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen videos of tigers playing with big balls of twine like a cat might with a ball of yarn …

Plus, there is the fact that we drove them extinct, but tigers are still around. Of course, we may have done the same thing we did to wolves, and they are common Siamese house cats.

This is kind of like the status of Pluto as a planet or a dwarf planet. It really just depends on how you define it, regardless of whether your definition is meaningful or not. To be sure in this case, tigers are cats, so Peter and BC’s argument is even more pointless.

There are Big Cats, and Small/medium Cats, so…Most big cats are members of the genus Panthera. Small and medium cats, including house cats, are members of Felis.
