Still happening. Last week it took the UPS a full week to get me my Priority Mail from St. Louis to Huntsville. I get text updates. It went from St. Louis to Southhaven, MS to Birmingham (northern Alabama’s main distribution center) to Huntsville, all in a timely manner. But then Huntsville sent it to Madison, after a full day Madison sent it to Birmingham, Birmingham then (for reasons unknown) sent it to Moody, Moody finally sent it back to Birmingham, Birmingham sent it again to Huntsville, and Huntsville finally sent it to my postal station for delivery. Dejoy and the GQP want to kill the Post Office so a business can take over. Also Dejoy was trying to stop mail in ballets to favor DT.
In my case I needed to send a package 7”x7”x3” from MN to Calf. A new item was cost $120.00. Feb 2nd.
UPS wanted $211.00 next day, $150.00 2 day, $55.00 ground.
USPS 2nd day, $18.00. I gave it to the USPS on Sat 11AM, it was delivered Monday 3PM.
During this pandemic I had several FedEx and UPS delay packages later than the paid route, 2nd day etc. So the CV-19 has slowed everything plus politics is piling on at USPS.
Let us not forget DeJoy has ties to two logistics companies that compete with USPS. What conflict of interest? tRump cronies never have a conflict of interest. They’re always and only interested in making government interests fail, privatizing them, and then running them like the old boys club, which is to say make money for only the old boys, do the worst job possible for everyone else, and blame anyone & everyone who had nothing to do with the demise.
At least you have a snail-mail system. Where I live the postal system is a joke. Everything is sent either electronically or by private couriers. USPS letters, documents, or packages sent to me (when they finally clear customs) are delivered by a private contract courier – we have no home mail delivery.
I would say that the upside is I don’t receive junk mail, but people are forever slipping flyers in my door.
True story. A little girl in Bonanza Oregon mailed a letter to her 8 year old cousin in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The two towns are about 35 miles apart. The letter was delivered 28 years later! Turned out the letter had fallen behind the counter at the Bonanza Post Office, and wasn’t discovered until they moved the post office from the old postmaster’s house into the new postmaster’s house. Happily, both young ladies were still around and that letter became a minor local legend.
DeJoy needs to go since it was his failure to hire postal workers as advised, to cover those postal workers who were affected by the virus which in turn delayed the delivery of our mail from a couple days to 4-6 weeks! the holidays are over and some mail is still awaiting processing.
This mess started way before Dejoy. The lady before him closed all of the smaller regional processing centers and reduced the number of “blue” boxes. Decoy just continues what the Postal Board has directed. Remember that Congress still has their fingers in the USPS!
My Ex’s Grandmother kept a scrapbook of postcards from ca. 1900. Most are from her friends, arranging what they would do and whee they would meet tomorrow! One classic had a note on it from the mailman apologizing for being late, but the family had moved without leaving a forwarding address, and it had taken him half a day to track down their new address!

The 6 cent rate took effect January 7, 1968. Would it kill them to spend 15 seconds looking something up?

When a comic artist is too lazy to come up with something original it’s time to break out some old joke about the mail or DMV.
