More great perspectives and artwork. All the three strips feels so realistic three dimensional. But just look at the details in the 2nd strip, especially!
mr. Rearden, Bozo is truly exceptional! As Gent states the art is exceptional. For me however the styles of the times are are well represented and are cynosure! I relive a (good) part of growing up in the mid 50’s every time and remember the funny and pleasant people then. Also their sometimes contradicting toughness and politeness is presented in a really classy way. Those were the days! Thanks.
Poor Bozo loses in all three of these, a victim of circumstance (or soicumstance, as Curly would say)!!! But once again Foxo proves himself to be an excellent pantomimist!!! Can’t find Fuzzy in #2 but al least he has his umbrella up in #1. What is the name of Bozo’s girl friend???
1) A thunderstorm and Bozo is safely inside…or not. A lightning bolt hits our hero without harm. Bozo wonders how a drawing can zap him!
2) Bozo with his lady and a cop off to feed their gizzard. Then it becomes 3’s a crowd at the restaurant and Bozo is left outside to watch them eat.
3) Bozo sees a car crash on the other side of the street, drags the man out, a robber by his attire, who gets up and runs right past the cop. The beat cop arrests Bozo instead!
I am amazed I had no idea about Bozo. A well drawn comic with a wonderful sense of faux 3 dimensionality is realized in every one. Bozo holds characteristics of both the every man and the super man along with the aspects of Rule of Funny and Imp of the Perverse all rolled in one! As we have been shown too he also doesn’t win all of the time and has his share of personal mysteries to boot.
GoComics really needs to play those aspects up in advertising. I can’t think of any comic today that is like Bozo. Including the name which predates Larry Harmon’s clown character by decades.
No thoughtful analysis by either of our professors of Bozo. As much as I look forward to Bozo, I enjoy reading their takes on the three strips, showing connections I didn’t notice and nuances of artwork I didn’t easily spot.
Often there is some detail drawn so elaborately that I’m surprised Foxo took the extra time to do it. Today it’s the laced bandage on Bozann’s foot. I’m not even sure it’s correct but it took extra effort to draw it like that.

1 Luckily, Bozo has a well-grounded personality.
2 The food must be good, all the cops eat there.
3 Oops, aiding and abetting the getaway.

1. What a shocking experience.
2. The cop scored a hit, Bozo got struckout.
3. Bozo in the wrong place at the wrong time.

1. Thor’s way of saying hello.
2. Stealing gal pals is okay with the law. Everything’s fair in law and war!
3. Cop gets an excuse to send away Bozo for a while and enjoy some quality time with his gal pal until he’s back.

“I didn’t see him do anything, Sarge, but he’s wearing wide horizontal stripes, and that’s practically a confession in these comics.”
