Food for thought is going to need a little explanation soon – I don’t think I’ve seen an afternoon paper, much less an extra edition, for decades.
Even the concept of a newspaper is not as ubiquitous as it once was – the only ones I buy now are the local paper wherever I travel, because I like to read about the going on of small towns.
1. Gotta rush! It’s late! Quick! Quick! Before the extra newspaper boy sells em all!
2. Hey waitsaminute!!!
3. All right, pal. Gimme the change!
…
It always such a great and lovely day after reading the great and lovely Bozo comics. The truly talented marvellous master cartoonist FoXo Reardon always delivers a magnificent masterpiece, wordless wonders of spectacular splendours.
Without a word uttered by any character, just with the power of pure art and art alone, this ever entertaining ever energetic evergreen entertainer is an epitome of “a picture speaks a thousand words”. The beautiful drawings, splendid perspectives, great facial expressions and body language of characters, scene composition and all, it such an absolute joy to see BOZO, a splendid work of splendid quality, they bring a big smile to my face every day.
And of course another big thumbs up, big applause, and three cheers for the most pleasant picturesque pantomime BOZO!
IN A HURRY- Poochie thinks he a greyhound against a Trailways Bus. FOOD FOR THOUGHT- One reason I stopped the News Paper from delivery, mostly advertisement very little local news and local sports. Plus, I did not have a puppy or bird in a cage. CHANGE-Looks like the Criminal only got a quarter and Bozo got 3 quarters. Shows “Crime Does Not Pay!”
CHANGE: Isn’t that the same robber who has held up Bozo numerous times before? Given Bozo’s “issues” with the cops, they may be allowing him to remain free as long as he keeps sticking up Bozo.
1) BUS RUSH: A race between Bozo, the dog and a bus! Who will win?
2) BAIT AND SWITCH: Bozo sees a boy with an extra edition he’s selling. Bozo gets it only to find it is on food not news!
3) EX-CHANGE: Bozo gets stopped by another member of the World Crime League; he manages to get the professional crook to pay change for his money!? (Does Bozo have a slight hypnotic power too?)

1 The pooch is right, legging it is faster. Right Bozo?
2 Read all about it Bozo.
3 Bozo doesn’t mind getting robbed but he does want bus fare home.

I like these three a lot.
In a hurry: It is heartwarming to see Bozo realize his dog (name?) did not make the bus, and get off rather than leave the dog.
Food for thought: Even the dog is mad at the newsboy hawking the paper.
Change: Great story line to bring us to “Spare a little change, sir? I just got robbed of my last dollar.”

1. The bus is fast – the dog is faster
I payed, now run – what a disaster!
2. I read it in the news today
Wrong paperboys to pay makes your money go away
3. Of course I give since asked so nicely
But not all – I lost enough above, see?

Fair. Flare. Share. Always there is deceptive advertising. As much as people hate it, we can’t seem to stop it. Odd that.

1) Extra, extra — bus chases dog
2) Newsboy pops Bozo, read all about it
3) Some people never change

✔₁ And, the race is on! And it’s off. And it’s on again! May the best doggie win.
✔₂ Frustrating, my paper is like that too – nothing but ads.
✔₃ Yes, that armed robber should change. Maybe take up politics.

I gave Foxo Reardon, dad, that gag for #2. I was 13 at the time.

I miss the days when small crooks had those little changemaker things on their belts.
