When I took our young boys to Island Beach State Park, NJ in the 60s we walked down a ways beyond the crowd & I mentally “recorded sound” of a waves coming up the sand, & slithering back with a hiss. Very relaxing when trying to go to sleep with too many worries.

it’s never the ocean you’re hearing when you put a conch shell to your ear; it’s just the wind blowing into the shell.

Today when you put a conch shell to your ear, you will hear a commercial for Al bar and grill, Spring Break special.

Ziggy is about to get into a lot of trouble. This is similar to what happens when someone tries to watch out for stampedes by listening to the ground.
