I’m still wondering…. how did she get there in the first place (without getting muddy).

Let’s see. Alice somehow got on that “thing”. Now she can’t get off? So, her mom will come, walk over to her and carry her off.

I’m surprised to see Benny hasn’t yet tried using his hammer to solve this problem.

Her rescue is being executed by Curly and Moe. Too bad Larry’s (Kevin?) not around; he could be going into panic mode!

I hope their house has a mud room!

How long will it take for two males (albeit very young ones) to admit they need a woman’s help?

Surprised the boys are not in the mud, boys of my youth relished mud, often making their own.

Just yell that there are mud-spiders crawling up behind her and she’ll jump to the sidewalk…

Not to endorse Alice’s bossiness, but the fact is that Madeline is the best solution here, even though Dill may get a popsicle sticks-through-the-mail-slot reprimand. Suck it up, boys, and go get her Mom!

Moms solve all situations. It’s part of their job. The reason they worry is that they have to foresee consequences, and know who’s going to be stuck with the hard work of dealing with them.
