You da man now Vic! Can’t wait to see their first dance — “Peg Leg Joe, threw his crutch away”. Will Tessi join them, show up with a Shallow Callow preppie, or wait too long and be stuck going with her Cousin Brucie?
As I understand the strip, TM manipulated VD into serving as PA announcer. So, to prove to TM that’s she’s shallow, these girls have ordered Vic to take them to the prom? Are they using Vic too?
The norm for the past several years in Snarker Nation real time has been kids going to a function as a group. Since the dawn of time, the herd relies on safety in numbers. The real question is how many moustaches can Vic stuff in to his van?
Four dates want some hot action in the back of the van for the prom! Apparently all the girls agree: “Once you go crutch, then other guys… not so much!”
So this gets revenge on Tessi…how? Seems like they’re doing her a favor. “Oh wow, I don’t have to keep deflecting PA Boy and he’ll keep doing our games. So my pretending to like him worked and I don’t have to date him at all!”
Doesn’t seem like much of a win for Vic either. Instead of having a date, he’s going in a group, which normally is just, “hey, we don’t have dates for the prom, so let’s just get all our single friends and go together.” So now he’s got at least five girls he can call “just friends.”
And speaking of just friends, Mopped Up Thorp is open to more than just my friends. Anyone can read it!
Well, my fearless prediction of them asking Vic to drive them to The Bucket and show Tessi how ridiculous she is was wrong, as usual. The prom prediction, that I thought wasn’t realistic, of course, turned out to be it. So what happens now, for the rest of basketball. In realty, the prom wouldn’t be until late in the baseball season. They better not have a prom scene during basketball season!
Let the record show that I asked one girl to prom my senior year and she turned me down. I don’t remember what I did on prom night, but it didn’t involve going to the prom.
Also, just noticed this. Shouldn’t Vic be headed to the ER? Or at least have Milford’s trainer Jean Luc-Picard take a look at his face? He broke his glasses, there’s no longer a lens and the frame is imbedded in his cheek. It’s noticeable here and even more so in color.
Vic practices his singing for the Prom: “but don’t forget who’s taking you home and in whose Van you’re gonna be, so darlins save the last 4 dances for me”.
P2: There’s more finger pointing in the strip than the US Senate…was Whigham scared by one of those giant foam rubber “We’re #1” foam fingers as a child?
Being ordered to go in a van with the girls basketball team is pretty darn close to one of the fantasies I had in high school. Okay I should say that started in high school
Ten years later, at their first reunion: The team discovers that, in a gesture of kindness to a friend, Vic acquired a “jones” for women basketball players…

P1 Hey, do you all want to help me practice calling the new nickname for Tessi that Mopman and I have been working on?
P2 Pull my finger!
Um, okay
P3 Now that you have dates for the prom, would you mind if I ask Tessi? She digs my goat

P1, All of Milford’s QB’s will be disappointed that they lost CK to Vic.
P2, And we’re drinking! Can’t wait to see them roll out of the smoke-filled van like in “Fast Times At Ridgemont High” at the prom.
P3, Apparently, they don’t think much of Doug’s cool ride.

Four girls?!?!? I may have to enlist my squad to help. Perhaps if I offer to pay for all the rootbeer for the evening.

Day 98 of Moon Held Hostage! In an effort to hasten this latest story arc he offers to chauffer Vickie D’s van on prom night and the subsequent DWI.

How’s the guy going to afford corsages for four girls when he only gets paid in hot dogs and drinks?

Ingenious! I am sure Vic understands their motive, but now he has an opportunity (and they too) get to know them on a more personal level.
