I always loved how Hobbes looked covered in soap bubbles; almost like a snowman.

But how would Calvin’s mom mistake a soapy stuffed tiger for her husband?

I think mom will know by the trail of water who was in the tub

This reminds me of a Mr. Bubble commercial from the 60s.

Well, it was a good disguise…..

It’s Sunday morning and the first thing I see is Calvin’s little heinie-butt.

I’m staying away from a direct comment—because I couldn’t top what has been put forth ! ! !

Calvin is not a little bit ashamed to be naked before Hobbes!

Spurting bath water from your mouth …. yuck!

Oh well. Lets face it. The hat looks better on Hobbes.

Hobbes looks very distinguished wearing that fedora.

If you’re looking at him in the upstairs bathroom, why are you shouting down to him in the living room?

And where exactly does he keep his ties?

I am soooo glad hats went out of fashion.

Assuming she actually thought it was Dad, odd that she was shocked he’d be bathing.

Considering some of the other stuff he’s pulled, this is downright tame!

Good question: Why are you taking a bath?  The rest is irrelevant.

Yup – Hobbes and Dad are about the same size…

This was one of the first Sunday strips for ‘Calvin and Hobbes’ I ever saw. It’s still a weird one.

I love how the second panel shows Calvin playing in the bath, and then the third shows Calvin getting ready to take said bath!

Those days, when people had a “best hat”.

It only just now occurs to me that Calvin’s dad does the Don Draper (Mad Men) look.

I always wear my best hat when I’m in the bath. My Dodgers cap is for the shower.

I’m LOLing!

“Why, I’m waiting for you of course. Go get your hat and join me!”

Gotta love Hobbes’ sense of “dressing for the occasion”! :D

Its a fine line between imagination and reality.

Nice try, Calvin & Hobbes, regarding the thwarted bath. Fun idea on this one, though.

It’s going to be interesting, over the coming months and more, to watch Watterson’s art evolve.
